The IPCC is now in its sixth assessment cycle, in which the IPCC is producing the Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) with contributions by its three Working Groups and a Synthesis Report, three Special Reports, and a refinement to its latest Methodology Report.
In education, the term assessment refers to the wide variety of methods or tools that educators use to evaluate, measure, and document the academic readiness, learning progress, skill acquisition, or educational needs of students.
While educational assessments and tests have been around since the days of the one-room schoolhouse, they have increasingly assumed a central role in efforts to improve the effectiveness of public schools and teaching. Standardized-test scores, for example, are arguably the dominant measure of educational achievement in the United States, and they are also the most commonly reported indicator of school, teacher, and school-system performance.
IPBES is to perform regular and timely assessments of knowledge on biodiversity and ecosystem services and their interlinkages at the global level. Also addressing an invitation by the Conference of the Parties of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) to prepare a global assessment of biodiversity and ecosystem services building, inter alia, on its own and other relevant regional, subregional and thematic assessments, as well as on national reports.
The overall scope of the assessment is to assess the status and trends with regard to biodiversity and ecosystem services, the impact of biodiversity and ecosystem services on human well-being and the effectiveness of responses, including the Strategic Plan and its Aichi Biodiversity Targets. It is anticipated that this deliverable will contribute to the process for the evaluation and renewal of the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity and its Aichi Biodiversity Targets.

The assessment highlights the critical role that cutting methane emissions, including from the fossil fuel industry, plays in slowing the rate of global warming. Cutting human-caused methane by 45% this decade would keep warming beneath a threshold agreed by world leaders. There are multiple benefits to acting including: the rapid reduction of warming, which can help prevent dangerous climate tipping points; improved air quality that can save hundreds of thousands of lives; improve food security by preventing crop losses; and create jobs through mitigation efforts while increasing productivity through reduced heat stress.
IACs train the next-generation of energy savvy engineers, more than 60 percent of which pursue energy-related careers upon graduation. IAC assessments are in-depth evaluations of a facility conducted by engineering faculty with upper class and graduate students from a participating university. After a remote survey of the plant, the team conducts a one or two-day site visit to take engineering measurements. The team performs a detailed process analysis to generate specific recommendations with estimates of costs, performance, and payback times. Within 60 days, the plant receives a confidential report detailing the analysis, findings, and recommendations. In six to nine months, the IAC team calls the plant manager to verify what recommendations have been implemented. Universities periodically apply to host an IAC and receive DOE funding to provide assessments. The IAC program has offered assessments since 1976.

Each year, about 500 engineering students at IACs receive hands-on assessment training at operating industrial facilities and gain substantiative experience performing evaluations of industrial processes and energy systems. Alumni report the training sets them apart in the job market.
Employers seek out IAC graduates. IAC students graduate with the skills and abilities to conduct energy, waste, and productivity assessments; use instrumentation and diagnostic equipment; work safely in an industrial environment; and communicate successfully through written reports and presentations to clients. These skills--that can only be gained through real-world experience--make graduates highly attractive to employers.

The assessment, for the first time, integrates the climate and air pollution costs and benefits from methane mitigation. Because methane is a key ingredient in the formation of ground-level ozone (smog), a powerful climate forcer and dangerous air pollutant, a 45 per cent reduction would prevent 260 000 premature deaths, 775 000 asthma-related hospital visits, 73 billion hours of lost labour from extreme heat, and 25 million tonnes of crop losses annually.
A preliminary U.S. government assessment determined that 1,429 people were killed in the chemical weapons attack, including at least 426 children, though this assessment will certainly evolve as we obtain more information.
We assess with high confidence that the Syrian regime has used chemical weapons on a small scale against the opposition multiple times in the last year, including in the Damascus suburbs. This assessment is based on multiple streams of information including reporting of Syrian officials planning and executing chemical weapons attacks and laboratory analysis of physiological samples obtained from a number of individuals, which revealed exposure to sarin. We assess that the opposition has not used chemical weapons.
The Assessment Aid is based on the FDA Multidisciplinary Review template. The main objectives of the Assessment Aid are to (1) focus the FDA review on critical thinking (assessment) and (2) increase review efficiency and consistency, and decrease review time spent on administrative tasks such as formatting.
Michigan has an innovative and comprehensive system of assessments to measure student achievement in learning our state content standards. These standards outline what educators believe students should know and be able to do in certain subjects and grade levels to be career and/or college-ready upon high school graduation. In Michigan, like in other states, a sampling of schools also participates in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) in grades 4, 8, and 12. Michigan summative assessments are required under the Michigan State School Aid Act and/or the Federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).

A workplace health assessment involves learning about a workplace and the health of its employees. Employee health is determined by a complex set of interactions between the individual and their social, cultural, and physical environments and can be influenced in many ways. It is important to assess employee health from a number of perspectives using multiple sources of data to gain a more complete picture of the determinants of health. For example, reviewing health care costs will provide information on which health conditions are the biggest contributors to the total, but do not provide insight into what factors contribute to those conditions.
The types of data sources that will be available will depend on the workplace. Some data is readily available, other data may need to be requested from a third party, and some may not be currently available requiring a decision whether to collect it or not. Overall, a workplace health assessment can help make connections between the various types of risk factors affecting employee health at the individual, intrapersonal, organizational, and environmental levels that are supported through multiple pieces of data.
